Salary: £30,888.35 – £40,343.96 per annum (DOE)

Hours of Week: 40 Term Time Only

Contract Type: Permanent

Requirements:

  • Full secondary registration with the GTCS, or ability to become registered.
  • Qualification to deliver English, with potential to deliver another subject.
  • Sufficient experience to choose subject content which is appropriate to the needs of the pupils, combined with knowledge of current methodology and practices.
  • Successful implementation of National Curriculum Guidelines in Curriculum for Excellence (CfE).
  • Ability to communicate an enthusiasm for the subject. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with learners in the classroom. Ability to coordinate effectively with colleagues.
  • Willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school to the benefit of learners.
  • Member of PVG Scheme or willingness to become a member of the PVG Scheme with satisfactory Scheme Record and/or Scheme Record Update.

As a teacher of English, you will:

  • Plan coherent and progressive teaching programmes that match learners’ needs and abilities.
  • Participate in the annual Professional Update and Professional Review and Development processes.
  • Engage in the process of curriculum development in collaboration with colleagues, both internal and external.
  • Participate in team teaching opportunities and Inter-disciplinary Learning throughout the school.
  • Communicate with parents / carers and relevant stakeholders, as appropriate.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and always promote positive behaviour and social conduct.
  • Contribute to development planning, evaluation and quality improvement processes.
