One of our residents at Acrefield House recently enjoyed an exciting trip to Nottingham to see The Rocky Horror Show, complete with an overnight stay.

What made this experience so special was the journey of planning it from start to finish. With support, she took the lead on booking the hotel, mapping out the travel route, and deciding where to eat before the show. Even when plans had to be adjusted along the way, she showed resilience and flexibility, a huge achievement in itself.

Moments like this demonstrate how we support our residents to set goals, build independence, and grow in confidence. Planning and completing a trip of this scale is not only enjoyable but also a real milestone in personal development.

The evening was rounded off with dinner at TGI Fridays and then the theatre itself, where she smiled and said: “The show is much better than the film!”

At Young Foundations, we’re proud to celebrate these accomplishments, big and small, as residents continue their journeys towards greater independence.
