At Acrefield House our values guide everything we do. We believe in taking responsibility, in finding joy and pride in our work, and in creating an environment where we nurture, educate and protect the young people in our care.
These values come to life through the way our team works, the relationships we build, and even the small everyday experiences that help young people grow.
One lovely example comes from our Registered Manager, Jo, who sometimes brings her German Shepherd to Acrefield House. Far more than a friendly visitor, he has become part of how we help young people develop important life skills.
Spending time with a dog encourages responsibility and care, whether that’s through feeding, playing, or joining in with training. For some of our young people, it’s the first time they’ve had the chance to build a trusting, consistent relationship with an animal. This brings joy, teaches patience, and offers opportunities to practise kindness and empathy in a safe way.
Moments like these reflect what Acrefield House is all about: creating opportunities for young people to grow, to learn responsibility, and to build confidence through positive, meaningful experiences.
At Young Foundations, we know that progress often comes through the little things, the laughter during a game, the pride of teaching a dog a new trick, the sense of calm from stroking a loyal companion. These moments add up to something powerful, a foundation for trust, growth, and hope for the future.
