At Young Foundations, we believe it is incredibly important that children, young people and young adults remain as close as possible to the communities they come from when living in our specialist residential homes. Staying near home helps maintain important relationships with family, friends and professionals, while also preserving a sense of identity, belonging and familiarity. These connections can play a vital role in emotional wellbeing, stability and long-term outcomes.
We are proud that many of the people living in our homes are able to remain close to their home areas. Across our North East children’s homes, around 70% of children live within 20 miles of their home community. In Wrexham, 60% of children living in our homes are from North Wales, helping them stay connected to the region they know. Similarly, on the Wirral, 60% of young adults living in our residential homes are from Merseyside, and all residents (100%) are from either Merseyside or North Wales.
These figures reflect our commitment to providing high-quality care while keeping people connected to the places and communities that matter most to them. By prioritising local placements wherever possible, we help ensure continuity, stability and stronger support networks for those in our care.
