One of our young people recently moved into Acrefield House and was excited to make his bedroom feel like his own. From the very beginning, he took the lead in planning how he wanted it to look.
He started by choosing a colour from the chart and bought a tester pot to sample on his wall which he loved. Feeling confident in his choice, he was supported to go and purchase a larger tin of paint. Before getting started, he collected the essentials, rollers, brushes, trays, and paint suits.
The result was fantastic, the room looks great, but more importantly, he feels proud, accomplished, and more settled in his new home.
It’s a wonderful example of how inclusion, independence, and small acts of support can help a young person feel truly at home.
