Salary: £42,707.87 – £54,527.39 per annum (DOE)

Hours of Week: 40 – Term Time Only

Contract Type: Permanent

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Ability to teach across either the Primary/Secondary phase
  • Knowledge of developments in teaching and learning
  • Ability to teach outstanding lessons to all ages and abilities- lessons that challenge and ensure the progress of all learners
  • Ability to lead a team and deploy staff effectively
  • Ability to lead CPD both within your subject specialism and potentially in the wider context motivate others, to lead change, to think clearly, calmly and to complete tasks successfully

As a Senior Teacher of Science you will:

  • Plan, monitor and evaluate the curriculum provision and enrichment for all year groups within the subject
  • Lead and coordinate effective collaborative planning for every year group and ensure the team’s collective experience feeds into improvements in the curriculum
  • Monitor, evaluate and continually improve the quality of planning, teaching and assessment in your team
  • Monitor your subject’s provision for pupils with individual needs, and develop differentiated learning and teaching methods and schemes of learning as necessary
  • Be accountable for pupil progress across the school at all key stages, ensuring that every pupil achieves results in line with, or better than, their individual targets based on their starting points
  • Track pupil progress and make intelligent use of data to identify underperformance, plan appropriate support and achieve excellent outcomes for our pupils
  • Set ambitious pupil targets in line with the schools ambition
  • Keep up to date with any changes in learning and teaching related to their curriculum expertise, including DfE guidance and curriculum changes and ensure staff are kept informed
  • To undertake leadership responsibilities, commensurate with the role, as instructed and delegated by the head teacher
  • Set high expectations so that all pupils are inspired, motivated and challenged to reach their full potential
  • Nurture every pupil’s intellectual curiosity, asking pertinent questions to deepen pupils’ understanding

Howard House School is an independent day special school catering for pupils with SEMH. It is co-educational and can accept up to 22 pupils aged between 10 and 18 years.
