Howard House School is a specialist alternative provision and special educational needs (SEND) school located on the outskirts of Bedlington, Northumberland. The school provides a nurturing, highly supportive learning environment for pupils whose needs may not be met in a mainstream setting, with high levels of individualised support.

Essential Requirements:

• GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• All-round administrative experience.

• Building positive professional relationships.

• A good knowledge of MS Office Suite. Experience of using related databases in order to effectively input, monitor and review information.

• Highly organised and adaptable to change.

• Ability to work as part of a team and using your own initiative.

  • Desire to develop professionally and undertake additional relevant qualifications.

Role responsibilities:

  • Support the school in meeting the continued registration requirements of the Independent School Standards (ISS).
  • Ensure the efficient operation of school systems, including the maintenance and collation of pupil files.
  • Prepare and co-ordinate Governor’s meeting as the Clerk to the Governing Body. Undertake agenda preparation, ensure diligent minute taking, ensure circulation of documentation is timely and appropriate in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and co-ordinate school examination paperwork as laid down by awarding body guidelines for the school site and to log all incoming correspondence in the exam logbook. Maintain exams cupboard and facilitate awarding body visits.
  • To be responsible for all administrative tasks to include typing, scanning and photocopying; taking enquiries and requests and ensuring clear and full messages via phone, email or in person are relayed to the relevant manager or followed up as necessary.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
  • All staff in school will be expected to accept reasonable flexibility in working arrangements and the allocation of duties across the team.
