This isn’t just work, it’s a privilege! Helping Young Foundations lead the way in supporting our young people.

  • To care, support, develop and empower young people with complex difficulties to realise their potential in a safe, secure and nurturing environment. This is achieved through a holistic model of care which is distinctive of compassion, skill and evidence based positive intervention.

At The Red House, we provide a high level of service provision based on the principles of the National Care Standards and encompass the key outcomes of GIRFEC, National Practice Model and Curriculum for Excellence.

Our aim at The Red House is to improve the life of children, we believe that children have the right to a safe and fun childhood and one that creates positive happy memories.

Getting it Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) underpins practice at The Red House, this is evidenced at every stage of our support planning system from assessment to review. GIRFEC provides the framework from which services are expected to plan, implement and review against. The SHANARRI indicators cover all aspects required for the child’s developing well-being. This has been fully implemented within The Red House with evidence of consolidation of theory and practice evident throughout the service.

I wanted to challenge traditional models of service and develop a home for young people where they could be understood and accepted for who they are. Where they could, through care, compassion and positive approaches, thrive, develop and most importantly, experience be part of a family and happy. Young Foundations shared my belief and afforded me the opportunity and autonomy to develop the workforce and the service.

We questioned everything we did, we challenged beliefs and came together as a team united in vision; to develop a service of which we are proud to be part. At The Red House we now celebrate the positive outcomes our young people experience, we continue to share the laughter, tears, stories and grow together in our amazing journey.

This journey just keeps getting better…

I come to work every day to try and make a difference, no matter how big or how small to the young people’s lives. To help them realise that through the times of trouble, there are people around them now that will help make good change and give them an opportunity for their future. Every child deserves happy times.
